I tried for elfins again today. Once again no luck. I did come to within 30
feet of a moose. I spotted him? and a companion as I crested a hill and froze
before he saw me. As the wind was right he couldn't smell me and started walking
closer sniffing to no avail to try and make me out. When he got real close I
decided not to let him figure out what I was at a range where he would feel
cornered. So I said hi, both were off like a shot. I also saw a fisher and
fresh bear clawings. The bad part came when I got stuck on corridor trail at the
top off Woodford 4 and had to walk to RT9 where I was lucky enough to find
someone to pull me out. Butterflies of the trek: 2 mustard whites, 2 compton
tortoiseshells, 1 azure, 1 painted lady and 1 eastern comma, 1 mourning cloak.
Also a few breeding confirmations for that " other survey". And the person who
pulled me out gave me directions to a large field of blueberries and a couple of
stands of cranberries, Bog Copper???? Kevin
