I said it before and am hopefully reaffirming that the idea of booking a ski vacation in May is a very good idea. There is great skiing in the east during the winter, why leave on a gamble for powder? If you like earning turns, garunteed snow and warm sunny days; I'd say it's a no brainer. Remember, all these pics I'm showing you are from an area that had a below average winter. It's the 4th week of May. Save those frequent flyer miles for spring! Ah yes, re: camera angles. Don't know how serious you are, but after last year's debate over slope angles I guess I'm a little sensitive... Of course the close up shots are inconclusive, but look at the horizon lines in the shots that aren't. Here's a shot I took a few outings ago: http://www.uvm.edu/skivt-l/image_upload/World/mgcc.jpg See the ridge on the far right with the big strips of snow? Recognize it here? http://www.uvm.edu/skivt-l/image_upload/World/st2mg3.jpg Also, I think this one http://www.uvm.edu/skivt- l/image_upload/World/st2mg4.jpg is telling. The northeast face is on the left side of the ridge in the picture. One last point; straight on shots looking down a pitch almost always make it look flat. When a shot like this looks steep, it is. http://www.uvm.edu/skivt- l/image_upload/World/st2md1.jpg I'm now well aware of the danger in trying to estimate angles, so I don't anymore. I will say this run is very similar in pitch to the top of Left Gully at Tucks. Sorry for being so long-winded about it. Hopefully any doubt is removed.
