I thought I'd share with you all a quandary I'm facing with respect to my quiver for next year. What better place to get advice?! My quiver is currently as follows: 180cm Atomic 9.11 with Salomon 912 bindings (the bindings are almost dead) 180cm CMH/Volkl with Salomon bindings (bindings in fine condition) 185 Salomoin Pocket Rockets w/ Freeride bindings And in a week I'll be adding a pair of 177 Atomic R:EX unmounted. I got the 9.11s to be my "on trail" ski a few years back and they haven't disappointed. They are very quick edge to edge and I love them for those early season or post thaw/freeze days when the woods are verbotten and you are working on your turns. The bindings are falling apart it seems, but they'll live for at least another season. I got the Pocket Rockets and then the CMHs in quick succession due to my increasing propensity for heading into the woods where a wider ski serve me far better than the narrow Atomic. The Pocket Rockets were first and I really loved them both in the trees and on the groomed. Then, in a fit of withdrawel-induced delirium, I picked up the CMH on the cheap last fall. I discovered this winter that while the PR is a fine ski, it really can't compare (at least for me) with the CMH. the latter ski is simply MUCH faster edge to edge and I just feel a lot stronger on it. The R:EX is intended to bridge the gap between my phats and the older Atomics for those days where you're not quite sure how the snow is going to turn out or if you are with friends who like bumps and such but you still want to hit the trees at some point. Bottom line - due to the excellence of the CMH, I'm simply not using the Pocket Rockets and am looking to sell them. My thinking was as follows: Unmount Freerides from Pocket Rockets, mount them on CMH. Take Salomon bindings from CMH, mount them on R:EX. My question then is, will it be difficult to find a buyer for an unmounted pair of Pocket Rockets with A/T binding drill holes in them? Also, will I have a problem mounting the Freerides on my CMH given that they will have been previously mounted with apline bindings? Finally, given the available options with my current equipment, is this the best way to go? Thoughts? Suggestions? Anecdotes? Bueller? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - SkiVt-L is brought to you by the University of Vermont. To unsubscribe, visit http://list.uvm.edu/archives/skivt-l.html
