A beautiful day at West Rutland Marsh today with
20 very social particpants attending Rutland
County Audubon's monthly monitoring.

Quantity was the word for the day with 10
red-tailed hawks, 521 American crows, 742 common
grackles, 55 brown-headed cowbirds, and 126
red-winged blackbirds.

Also of interest were 2 sharp-shinned hawks, 1
pileated woodpecker, 1 ruby-crowned kinglet, 1
hermit thrush, 2 swamp sparrows, 1 white-crowned
sparrow and 1 rusty blackbird.

A total of 31 species were seen compared with 29
one year ago. A good time was had by all.
