Also, isnt the basic principle behind glisse the instantaneous melting of a
thin layer of snow beneath the ski upon compression, over which a (waxed)
base slides? If so, isn't it more difficult to melt a layer of snow beneath
a ski - or anywhere else - when ambient temperatures are so low?
