TEMPORARY INFORMATION SPECIALIST, VACCINE  R&D, NEW YORK



Organization working with global partners to speed the development of a safe
and effective preventive AIDS vaccine is wants to optimize the
information-gathering and analytical capacity of its R&D Department.  They
are seeking an Information Specialist experienced with vaccine development
and/or the Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry to be an integral part of their
R&D team.



THE POSITION:  The Information Specialist, working closely with Senior
Management, will proactively assess the information needs of the R&D
Department and implement effective processes for information gathering and
distribution.  Track latest developments in immunology and HIV biology, new
vaccine technologies, patents, etc through review of scientific literature,
industry reports and trade publications.  Perform content specific searches.
Manage library and associated services.  Recommend vendors and negotiate
contracts.  Assist in preparing presentations and reports.



REQUIREMENTS:  MLS or  minimum of BS (preferably in Biomedical Sciences)
with prior experience in information management and/or analysis.

Expertise in performing scientific database searches via Medline, Embase,
Dialog, Datastar, etc.) required.  Experience with technology
assessment/competitive intelligence and knowledge of current trends in HIV
vaccine development is important.  Demonstrated ability to use clear
judgment and analytical skills.  Strong organizational skills.  Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills.  High productivity and  commitment
within a research environment.
