The attached stands out as a model of a declaration on current limits to science. An accomplished gene-jockey points out, in the nearest thing to a prestigious journal in which gene-jockeys can aspire to publish, limitations in the science on which are based the current generation of GM-foods. This is a prime item to fw to anyone capable of understanding the inevitable technical terms. I am particularly glad to see set forth here a very brief but utterly accurate account of the Showa Denko killings. The lie 'no damage has ever been caused by GM food or supplement', still being uttered by Australian cabinet ministers years after Prof Schubert's summary, is a dismal sign of how shattered scientific communication has become, dominated by PR. So much effort goes into the Ig Nobel prizes; why doesn't UCS organise a prize commemorating Henry Kendall, for models in telling the scientific truth about rackets based on dud science? If they get around to doing this, Prof Schubert must be an early contender. Please pass around this gem. R
