An osprey was observed on a new nest platform on the "Carman Marsh" today.
The pair had nested on a precarious tree crotch last year. The nest can
be safely observed from Church Road. If travelling west from downtown
Swanton, one would take a right turn onto Church Road about 1 mile before
the new bridge construction. If you see the bridge, you missed it.
There is a new refuge headquarters building near there where Tabor Road and
Church road form an intersection with route 78. It is very unwise to stop
and look at anything while driving on route 78 since is carries a lot of
car and heavy truck traffic usually at excessive speeds.
