North American Landbird Conservation Plan Online

The Partners in Flight (PIF) North American Landbird Conservation Plan is
now available for viewing or download from the web. The Plan, published in
2004, provides a continental synthesis of priorities and objectives that
will guide landbird conservation actions at national and international scales.

100 species warrant inclusion on the PIF Watch List, due to a combination
of threats to their habitats, declining populations, small population
sizes, or limited distributions. A few of the species on this list that are
found in Vermont are: Short-eared Owl, Bicknell's Thrush, Wood Thrush, and
Canada Warbler. Currently, the Vermont Institute of Natural Science -
Conservation Biology Department, a member of PIF, is intensively studying
both Bicknell's Thrush and Canada Warbler.
