Hi all –

I’m very pleased to announce that the Department of Education has hired Arlyn Bruccoli to be the Education Technology Integration Specialist. Many of you will get to know Arlyn as she supports the rollout of the new “Teachers Workplace” tool that we have developed, along with 8 other national partners, through the IBM Reinventing Education program.

Arlyn comes with extensive educational technology and professional development experience, having directed the “Teachers Exploring the Arctic” (TEA) program for the past six years. TEA was funded by the National Science Foundation and was administered by the American Museum of Natural History and the Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory.

Over the summer Arlyn will work closely with Jill Peck to become familiar with the tool and to prepare for the rollout over this next year. Jill will continue her work at Johnson State College and will remain closely connected with the project into the foreseeable future.

Arlyn will also provide internal support at the Department of Education by working with content specialists and others to integrate and use technology in deeper and more substantial ways.

The creation of Arlyn’s position indicates strong support for technology integration on the part of the Department, and gives us greater day-to-day support for your work as well as the work of DOE content specialists.

I hope your summer is going well!!
