I spent a few days on two blocks in the Alburg area this week with Brendan Collins, Sarah Frey and Juan Klavins. We found about 27 species or so on two blocks that had hardly anything done on them. In no particular order from our sheets.... Summer Azure Appalachian Brown - life butterfly for me!!!! In a nasty swamp. Cabbage White Clouded Sulphur Least Skipper Northern Crescent Painted Lady Monarch - many. some mating and one ovipositing. Viceroy Silver-spotted Skipper Dun Skipper Eyed Brown Eastern-tailed Blue Great Spangled Fritillary Common Wood Nymph (clouded form and intermediate form) Mustard White Orange Sulphur Milbert's Tortoiseshell - many many larvae on stinging nettles Black Swallowtail Common Ringlet Meadow Fritillary Red Admiral anglewing species Peck's Skipper Bronze Copper American Copper European Skipper deer fly heaven!
