Piano Concert at Coolidge Historic Site
PLYMOUTH NOTCH, Vt. - Noted pianists Abigail Charbeneau and Catharine
Dornin
will perform at the President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site
on
Saturday, September 24 at 2:00 p.m. Their 45 minute program
includes duets
by Mozart, Brahms and Lecuona.
Both musicians currently teach at the Concord
Community Music School
and St. Paul's School in Concord, NH. Abigail Charbeneau is a
native of
Woodstock, VT and graduated with a M.M. degree in piano performance
&
pedagogy from the University of Illinois. She has studied with
Pola
Baytelman, William Heiles, and Arkady Aronov, and has served on the
faculty
of Milliken University (IL) and the University of Illinois.
Catherine
Dornin is a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory and has been a facility
member
at Hochstein and Pittsfield community music schools and Notre Dame
College.
A past president of the New Hampshire Music Teachers Association,
she
debuted at Carnegie Hall in 1990 and is associated with several
regional
music organizations.
Charbeneau and Dornin will perform three pieces:
Mozart's Sonata in D
major, Brahms' Waltzes, Op. 39, and Lecuona's Malaguena. They will
play on
the famous "Grace Coolidge piano" in the Visitor Center at the
President
Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site. This Baldwin grand piano was
given to
First Lady Grace Coolidge when she was at The White House and was the
first
piano ever flown in an airplane.
The recital is free and open to the
public. Seating is limited, so
please come early. This event is one of many special programs
organized
this season by the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation at
the
State-Owned Historic Sites. For further information, call the
