My error... I read the question as length not width.  We are always concerned about small (length) cuffs being used on some of our larger patients when their blood pressures are taken someplace else.  One size does not fit all and just because the velcro grabs doesn't mean an accurate pressure will be taken.  I remember when the cuff bladders were as long as the cuff itself.  Now with the auto inflators it is usually less than half.  So, width I agree 20%,  length...more can be better.

I need a little help with finding out the correct
answer to the question, "In order to minimize cuff
artifact, the cuff width should be at least ______
greater than the diameter of the limb in which
pressure is being measured?"

Is the answer 50% greater or 20% greater?

There is conflicting information in 2 of the texts I
am referencing to find the answer to this question.

I appreciate everyone's help with this.

Thanks,
