UVM’s Cochran Named ECAC Women’s Soccer Division I Player of the Week
BURLINGTON, Vt. – University of Vermont junior Amy Cochran (Keene,
N.H.) has been named the ECAC Women’s Soccer Division I Player of the
Week for the week ending September 26, 2005. Cochran is the first UVM
player to earn the honor this season and the first since teammate
Nikkie Hessney earned the honor during the 2003 season.
Cochran scored both goals in Vermont’s 2-0 shutout victory at
Binghamton in the conference opener on Sunday. The Catamounts handed
the Bearcats, the defending America East Champions, their fourth
straight loss of the year and were shutout for the second consecutive
time by UVM.
Cochran, an America East All-Conference Second Team selection last
season, has scored four goals in the last two games for Vermont. She
leads the team in scoring, and ranks second in America East, with seven
goals and a league-leading five assists for 19 points. Cochran ranks
among the top five all-time at UVM in goals (5th-24), assists (T3rd-14)
and points (5th-62). Earlier this season, Cochran became the seventh
Catamount to reach the 50-point plateau.
The Catamounts have won three of their last four matches and stand at
4-5-0 overall and 1-0-0 in America East. UVM returns to the friendly
confines of Centennial Field for the first time since August 31 when it
hosts Albany at 3:00pm on Thursday, September 29. For ticket
information, please call the UVM Athletic Ticket Office at
1-866-4-CAT-TIX. All University of Vermont students get in free with
their valid UVM ID.
