Thanks for that report with pictures, Jay.  I'm very interested in 
checking out the area since its a region of Vermont I'm not very versed 
in.  That central region around Middlebury, Breadloaf area, Ripton, 
etc...basically western Addison County.  I did a bike trip for my UVM 
orientation a couple years back and it included biking Middlebury and 
Brandon Gaps but that's really all I've seen of the area.

ps: Weather looks fantastic this weekend for outdoors adventures across 
the north country.  Days look cool with highs in the 60 to 70F range and 
nights will be cool with lows in the upper 30's and 40's...skies will be 
clear at night and in the morning with some afternoon fair weather clouds 
developing, especially over the higher terrain.  Beautiful fall weather 
expected for the last tourist weekend of the summer.  Get out and do 
something!
