On December 1, 1955 Mrs. Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to
relinquish her seat on a bus to a white passenger

This act of civil disobedience set the stage for the modern Civil Rights Movement
and she eventually became known as
the Mother of the Civil Rights Movement.

Rosa Parks died on October 24, 2005.
