Hi. I had several requests for a summary on this. I can't say what we'll do yet, but I appreciate the examples and advice I received. One library has a Grand Rounds calendar on the library's website. They have "value-added" services like canned database searches, references and links to other resources for many of the programs. This site is password protected. Another library posts material on their website for three months. One library has a resident intranet, which is password protected. A few other institutions put the Grand Rounds documents on their internal intranet, accessible only from within. One hospital's DME gets a copy of the PowerPoint presentation from everyone in advance so he can have the equipment set up. It is then posted on a network folder. He deletes them after 4-6 months. One librarian tapes all the Grand Rounds and puts the programs on the web page. I didn't receive any samples of permission forms and the responses ranged from asking for verbal permission to personnel on staff who help faculty with copyright questions and obtaining permission. One librarian said she ran into physicians who wouldn't allow their presentations to be posted, but she thought it might be more disinterest than concern. Finally, the issue of CME credit was raised by several. Some give no credit at all. Another suggested the presentation could be accredited as "enduring materials," but not as Category 1. The librarian who tapes the programs indicated that credits are offered for online viewing. Thanks to all for your responses.
