Hi Everyone, I've just returned from a few days of birding near Duluth, MN. Had great looks at Snowy, Great Gray, and Northern Hawk owls, as well as 40 other species. Sean Lawson asked me to pass on the following information, Pat Folsom Waitsfield Mad River Glen will host the next event in the 10th Anniversary Naturalist Series on Saturday, January 28th, 2006 - "A Walk on the Wild Side" with naturalist Alcott Smith Join renowned wildlife expert and veterinarian, Alcott Smith, as we explore the winter landscape from an animal's perspective on a full day snowshoe through the uplands of the Green Mountains. Gain insights into habits of our wild neighbors, as we seek to understand the behavior, habitat, and survival strategies of our local flora and fauna. Participants must be fit and prepared for full day in challenging terrain, winter conditions, and off-trail travel. Pre-registration is requested (call 496-3551 x117), the program is from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and the cost is $35 per person. Snowshoe rentals are available on site.
