Coming out of the St. Johnsbury School parking lot yesterday afternoon, I was 
delighted to see at least five pine grosbeaks feasting on shriveled-up fruit 
on ornamental trees. I don't see this species often, but when I do, they 
always seem utterly unafraid of cars and people. I stopped, opened the window, said 
"hello" and met their little button eyes from about six feet away.
