A wonderful lady showed me a trick a few years back where you use liquid paper (white-out) to do your initial marking and then use a sharpie to go behind and connect the dots a few at a time as you wipe off the gel (we also used an alcohol swab before marking also to remove skin oil so ink sticks better).
