Vermont Women’s Hockey Participates in After School Program

BURLINGTON, Vt. – Members of the University of Vermont women’s hockey team spent Wednesday afternoon with the Newport ‘After School Program’ at Gutterson Fieldhouse. With the elementary school on vacation this week, a group of 30 students and teachers made the trip to Burlington to meet the team.

The students ate lunch at the rink and were then treated to a tour of the Catamounts’ locker room, took pictures on the Zamboni, skated with the team and went through an obstacle course. UVM women’s hockey players and coaches also talked to the students about participating in athletics and demonstrated some basic hockey skills. Following the activities, the team signed autographs.

Vermont wrapped up the 2005-06 season, the Catamounts first in Hockey East, on Sunday at New Hampshire.
