Last week, Palm introduced the Treo 700p and Sprint announced they would be the first carrier to release the new smartphone with availability "by the end of May". This prompted Verizon to announce availability on their network in the "next few weeks". To the surprise of many, this week Palm and Verizon announced the 700p would be available in Verizon Wireless stores starting June 1st and available immediately online through Verizon Wireless. Some members in our forums have received Fedex tracking numbers indicating shipment for today. It appears Verizon has beat Sprint to market. Palm has announced an incentive plan for Treo 650 owners looking to upgrade to the new Treo 700p. For a limited time, Palm is offering a $150 check for customers who purchase a 700p from Palm.com and send in their functional Treo 650. The offer expires on June 28th, 2006. This weeks Celebrity Treo Spotlight focuses on Kevin Spacey. Kevin has starred in box office hits American Beauty, L.A. Confidential and plays Lex Luthor in the upcoming movie Superman Returns.
