One lone male Red Crossbill this morning, while bird atlasing in Groton State Forest in Marshfield. The bird was feeding in a spruce visible from the railroad bed road (just north of Lanesboro). There looks be a good cone crop - both spruce and fir.

Other birds included Olive-sided Flycatcher, Swainson's Thrush and quite a few Canada Warbler pairs carrying food for young.

Cheers,
Chip Darmstadt
