   The Lake Champlain open waters forecast:

   A Lake thunderstorm advisory is in effect today:

   Today: Winds becoming north at 5 to 15 knots. Waves 1 to 2 feet. A
   chance of showers and thunderstorms. Visibility 3 to 5 miles in any
   rain. 
   Tonight: North Winds 5 to 15 knots in the evening, then becoming
   light. Waves 1 to 2 feet and subsiding. 
   Wednesday: Light winds and nearly calm water.

   Winds and waves will be locally higher in the vicinity of any
   thunderstorms.

   The Lake Champlain Lake level at the King Street ferry dock in
   Burlington was 98.65 feet, and the water temperature was 76 degrees.

   The ultraviolet index for today is a 2. This is in the low category.

   The higher summits forecast for Vermont and Northern New York:

   Today: Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. highs
   in the 60S. West Winds 15 to 30 mph. 
   Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower to mid 60S. Northwest
   winds at around 10 mph.
