Wouldn’t it make more sense to
cancel the signature on both petitions? Otherwise, I could see a
candidate coming back on us for having to decide which signature to accept.
I always tell people to get more than 30
signatures just for that reason.

If there is only 1 position to be filled,
then a person can only sign 1 candidate’s petition. The law
does not say how to handle it, but we suggest that you count the signature on
the first petition received, and not on the second petition.

How do you handle a person signing
two petitions for the same seat? Is there a written law on this?
Do you take the signature on first
petition handed in or void on all petitions signed?
