Here's another response from Norwich University.  If you are in the very
southern tip of Texas DON'T MISS going to the Laguna Atascosa National
Wildlife Reserve on the coast and the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge
on the Rio Grande.  You will be blown away by the birding in these two
"nearly adjacent" refuges.
