Job Number # SP515757 Available: Open Description: Reporting to the Assistant Director for the Research and Education Division at the Medical Center Library, the Clinical Reference Librarian will work with a variety of clientele, including patients as well as clinicians, researchers, faculty and students providing excellent public service. Responsibilities: Promotes access, both in person and online, to the Medical Center Library and its supported information resources; participates in the development of library and departmental objectives to meet the information needs of users; serves as liaison to assigned college or department and participates in clinical rounds/morning report service; assists with web site content development and maintenance activities; provides reference service, shares in teaching duties for regularly scheduled classes as well as point-of-use education; conducts online searching of a variety of health sciences databases; participates on library, hospital, and university committees as appropriate. Required Qualifications: Master's Degree in library/information science from an ALA-accredited institution with a focus on medical librarianship. A minimum of two years of professional experience in an academic health sciences or a biomedical special library. Current knowledge and experience with biomedical information resources. Experience with reference and end-user instruction. A demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize responsibilities and to work collaboratively with colleagues, both within the library, and throughout the University. Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong public service orientation, and flexibility. Successful candidates will be able to show evidence of an ability to meet University of Kentucky requirements for promotion and tenure, including evidence of self-motivation, initiative, and productivity. Preferred Qualifications: Professional work experience in a clinical or basic life sciences discipline. Experience with bibliographic management software and electronic courseware.
