Librarian/Instructor: Instructional Design Coordinator

The University of Virginia Claude Moore Health Sciences Library is seeking an Instructional Design Coordinator.  The Library is a leader within the UVA Health System in supporting new information technologies and provides a dynamic environment supporting innovative services including an extensive educational program. The position will coordinate the design and production of electronically deliverable, interactive tutorials and instructional materials to support library initiatives to provide asynchronous educational opportunities for its constituents.  Simultaneously, the Coordinator provides leadership and insight to library faculty on relevant trends in instructional design and instructional technologies for effective instruction, in multiple learning modes, to a diverse constituency. Skills and experience in effectively coaching and supporting content experts during collaboration are essential. The Coordinator will translate instructional goals into appropriate language for faculty, while collaborating with the Library's Web Advisory Group to implement online delivery mechanisms, filling a pivotal role in moving instructional content from idea to reality.

Requirements for the position include a Master's degree in Instructional Technology or related field, with one year experience of instructional design work in an academic environment specifically using instructional technology applications and computer-assisted instructional software and related hardware.
Other requirements include:  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a rapidly changing environment. Commitment to service and teamwork. Knowledge of technologies and instructional design principles related to delivery of information and education via online formats. Ability to integrate new technologies with sound instructional design and assessment principles to accomplish instructional goals. Experience with the practical application of instructional design theory and methodologies in a public service setting.

Other desirable skills, experience, or abilities include: Three years experience in instructional design work in an academic environment using instructional technology applications, experience and training in assessment and evaluation of instruction desirable. Membership in SALT and/or AECT desirable.

Salary:  $46,000/yr minimum; excellent benefits and relocation support.
