GENERAL MAMANGER
Based in Dunedin, Edinburgh of the
South, Iso-Trace
New Zealand is
involved in the fingerprinting of samples, using isotopic ratios that can enable direct
comparison and potentially the identification of point of origin for a variety
of materials and products. This has a wide variety of potential applications
within the pharmaceutical, energy, food and FMCG sectors in New Zealand and internationally.
Established through the world renowned University of Otago, the business has been stand-alone since 2004, and has already developed a high profile within
the isotopic testing community for its leading-edge thinking, quality of service and market-responsiveness. It
is now ready for its next stage of development and growth within the national and
international business arenas and requires a General Manager to lead this
process.
The right individual will work in partnership with the Iso-Trace team and their
clients, and will need to possess creative flair, flexibility and entrepreneurial spirit enabling
them to drive the successful development of this exciting business. Our clients
are seeking someone who has the maturity and strength to engage clients and
other key stakeholders but who is energetic, adventurous and highly communicative in their
approach to driving the development of this exciting organisation.
In addition the right person for this role will possess many of the following
characteristics:
- Ideally an individual with a (international)
consulting or business background, and the ability to understand technical
information and processes and translate them into “layman’s
terms” or business speak.
- The ability to assess business risk and make
fact-based decisions to enable the successful development of the business
- The ability and/or experience of working in a
busy small team environment in partnership with the other team members
- Be comfortable with working and liaising with
business professionals, members of the scientific community and
academic researchers, both as stakeholders and clients
- Have a very well developed commercial sense and
the ability to manage stakeholder and client expectations
- Be comfortable and familiar with working with/in
the corporate world, as well as outside of specific corporate
structures and organisations
- Extremely strong practical business development
and superb relationship management skills, with excellent communication and influencing
skills and highly developed emotional intelligence when dealing with
varied styles and personalities
- Strong/practical financial business management
ability and experience
- Be comfortable with operational business and
people management, but be able to step back and take a
‘strategic overview’ of business matters and whilst
appreciating it exists not get side-tracked by the minutiae of day-to-day
issues
- Highly developed business and people analytical
skills and be able to make effective and efficient decisions and give
appropriate feedback to interested stakeholders
- The ability to challenge stakeholder and board
members decision-making with informed and robust business cases in order
to steer the creation and development of the new business platform
appropriately
- Experience of dealing with legislative and
compliance personnel and their requirements.
