maybe because he needs to know both the anatomical information provided by the duplex and the hemodynamic impact information provided by the physiologic study.  by combining the two you can better determine the appropriate treatment regimen.  not everyone is a candidate for or wants surgery but it is still helpful to know if there are patent distal vessels to bypass to if needed.
