Oh boy, I have learned by now that I never say I'm not doing a study. I
called and asked if perhaps she had ordered the wrong study as the
requisition said LLE V duplex for DVT, symptom syncope. We have recently
begun all electronic ordering and the doctors are doing their own instead of
the clerks and as often as not they enter the wrong study because they don't
see the study they believe they need. I really thought she had ordered it in
error. I said I never heard of syncope as a result of a DVT and she said
"Well it happens" . I was a little taken aback and said "It does?" and her
curt answer was "yes" followed by a rather uncomfortable silence on my end.
I admit I didn't quite know what to say, I guess I should have asked her
what the pathway was but we have been chastised for questioning the Dr's.
Including one Doc who wanted to know exactly where I went to medical school.
I did ask one of our senior radiologist if he wanted to field the call and
he said just do the ltd study. so there ya go......
