At 8:20 a.m. this morning, a lovely sighting of the Sandhill Crane pair and
their chick (which is now as big as the adults). The birds were in plain
sight in the middle of a cornfield on the east side of Monkton-Bristol Road
2 miles north of the lower Hardscrabble Road (the one just before Burpee
Road) and just slightly north of Winona Lake/Bristol Pond. If you're
traveling south on Monkton/Bristol road, the spot is just south and within
sight of a sizeable dairy farm. Sadly, I didn't have a scope and camera
with me.

Hopefully the birds will hang out and fatten up for a while before heading
for warmer climes.
