Mark, This is an excellent example of where the retention schedule could be updated in terms of using current nomenclature. It might be helpful to consider looking at how local offices commonly reference records when changes and updates are made to the retention schedule. There appears to be a gap between references in the retention schedule and references regularly used by clerks and treasurers. I also keep a copy of all tax bills and put them in with "keep for 10 years". Would like to hear that answer too. I have several years worth of these bills and wondering about throwing them away. Does anyone have a policy on how long they keep them? There doesn't seem to be a requirement for keeping them on the retention time table from the State. Christine Richter Town of Wilmington Finance Officer/Treasurer
