The Village of Essex Junction pays their eligible (full-time) employees 50% of the savings if the employee is covered under their spouse’s insurance.  The employee receives the payment once a month in a special payroll.  The 50% is based on what would be paid if the employee was covered through the Village, i.e., if they have a family, it would be 50% of the family premium, if single, it would be 50% of the single premium, etc.

How many towns offer their employees a cash payment if the employee is not utilizing the town's health care benefit and are covered by another (i.e. - spouse's coverage).

We are also interested in the amount of the payment and how it is determined.

Thank you in advance for you time.
