Hi John,

I do not have any hard data to provide. In general when ever I have looked at infants and children, their velocities have been higher. Perhaps there are some other flownet members who can give you some specific numbers.

I would recommend looking for any focal changes, using the old "doubling in the PSV equals at least 50% stenosis" and also using the ICA/CCA ratio. The ratio should still fall within the expected ranges as the factors affecting the hemodynamics in the ICA will also impact the CCA.

Please let us know how the scan goes.

  Subject: Pediatic carotid duplex criteria

  Flownetters:

We have been asked to perform a carotid duplex on a two year old inpatient. Does anyone out there have any diagnostic criteria for pediatric carotid duplex? Thanks for your help!
