A publication of the University Communications office Spring 2008 THISWEEK@UVM ANNOUNCEMENTS UVM Celebrates The Legacy Of Martin Luther King, Jr. A number of events have been organized in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. both this week and next, including a speech by Harry Belafonte on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 4 p.m. in Ira Allen Chapel. Read more about Belafonte's speech and the many scheduled events in commemoration of Dr. King.[2] Fleming Museum To Open Jan. 15 The Fleming Museum will open for the spring semester on Tuesday, Jan. 15. This spring, the museum will host two artists' work: an installation by W. David Powell of his digital prints displayed alongside historic scientific instruments and the photography of Michael Light depicting atomic explosions carried out by the United States in the 1950s and 1960s over Nevada and the Pacific Ocean. The museum will also display its own collection of masks from Sri Lanka. Read more about the spring semester's exhibits.[3] Food Network To Air UVM-Taped "Throwdown" Episode On Jan. 20 On Sunday, Jan. 20 at 10 p.m. the Food Network will air the episode of "Throwdown with Bobby Flay," featuring local restaurant owner and UVM alum Mark Bove, taped on campus last fall.
