Evan,

Indeed it would have been really, really bad, had I not had been wearing a
helmet. When I said "BANG", I really should have said "BANG.CRACK", with
the second sound being my head hitting the pavement.hard!

In Mass, it is legal for a bike (but not a car) to pass on the right.
Cambridge has a city ordinance requiring that all passengers in cars give
way to bikes, when opening a car door. Well, that's great, but no one seems
to have passed any of this on to the high school kid who jumped out of the
passenger side of her mom's car, in traffic, right in front of me.

David, that is my alma mater you speak of! I assume you know that
technically it is referred to as Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School and
not Cambridge High. And no, I cannot vouch for the friendliness of Cambridge
Street to cyclists.

Really sorry to hear about your accident. It sounds like it could have been
much worse though.
