The Center for Cultural
Pluralism will be screening an outstanding film
this Wednesday as part of our Social Justice Film Series. Superman
& The Bride: Sexual Stereotypes in the Media explores
the history of sexual stereotypes as presented in the media. Film
clips, television advertisements and sitcoms, and so-called
documentaries from the 1940's, 50's and 60's show men as domineering
masters, and women as their doting subordinates. This film discusses
the media’s continuing role in reinforcing sexual stereotypes, as well
as the ongoing sexual biases that nurture them. (35 minutes)
