Save time and money - take part without leaving your office! The series is designed for the dairy producer who is new to the industry, has recently completed a management transition and is a new owner, or is simply less experienced. The purpose of the series is to provide these new and beginning producers a convenient way to access information that will help them be successful in a challenging industry. The series kicks off April 23, and will continue June 25, July 30, Aug. 27, Sept. 24, Oct. 29, Nov. 26, and Dec. 17. Hours are noon to 1 p.m. for each session. The training is offered in real-time via the worldwide web. Participants just need a phone and a computer with high-speed internet connection to access the website that will be used for the training. The April 23 session will provide an introduction to others in various regions of Pennsylvania and some brief introductory topics. After the initial session, the topics will be chosen by the participants. Some potential topics for discussion may include: * Strategies for building equity as a new dairy business owner * Pennsylvania resources available for new dairy business owners * Ways to help prevent inter-generational miscommunications * Better financial management * Better production management This project is partially funded with a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and the Center for Dairy Excellence. There is no charge to participate, but pre-registration is required for each session by calling the Dairy Alliance office, 888-373-7232, by noon on the Monday prior to the session.
