A sad end-of-winter note:
The barred owl that was seen at the State House and in neighboring woods
along Clarendon Ave and Hubbard Street has been found dead in a State House
parking lot.

Workers at the State House noticed that the owl was being mobbed
frequently by crows and thought that maybe the crows killed it. I suspect
it's more likely that the bird simply starved to death. It must have been
either sick or starving to appear so close to the State House (it was
photographed by the local newspaper from a State House window.)
