I would accept it if received within any deadline requirements. The written notice is just a request to be heard. I would confirm that I received the request and then follow the same procedure as for any other request.

Our listers have asked me if a grievance sent by email is acceptable. The statute simply says “written notice”. Do other towns accept emails?
