A time clock?
Town Clerks are typically salaried and they are independently elected officials.  If you're punching a time clock, that implies that someone is reviewing your time clock records and having an opinion about them.   If you're elected, you're accountable only  TO THE VOTERS, and I'm sure THEY are not reviewing your time clock records.  If the Selectboard is reviewing your time clock records, that is improper.  You are not accountable in that way to the Selectboard.
I would advise to end the time clock business immediately.  I think it's outrageous.
