RE:                  Student Research Conference, April 16, 2009

We are pleased to announce the second annual University of Vermont Student Research Conference (SRC) for both graduate and undergraduate students. This campus-wide, day-long conference is scheduled for Thursday, April 16, 2009, in the Davis Center.  Its purpose is to celebrate the quality and breadth of all student research and creative activity being carried out in every UVM college, school and program, to promote and facilitate the exchange of interdisciplinary perspectives, and to encourage student intellectual growth.  We urge you to support the SRC and to encourage your faculty and students to take part in what will be an extraordinary event.  The UVM SRC is sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Research, the Honors College and the Graduate College.

The Conference is designed as a collaborative effort that will provide a public forum in which students and their faculty mentors can share their work with the wider UVM community.  The event is not intended to supplant the student research presentation processes already sponsored by individual programs (including APLE, HELiX, McNair Scholars SURF, Graduate Student Research Day, Honors College, or the MD-PhD Research Day), but rather, to draw on and bring together these efforts.  Participation in the conference is open to any undergraduate or graduate student who is conducting research under the direction of a UVM faculty member, including students who engage in research apart from any formal program.

The April 16th Conference will include student poster and research presentations. The Conference website, found at http://www.uvm.edu/~uvmsrc describes the student application process for undergraduate students.  The website is being updated with current information, so please check back for details. Note: The deadline for submission of undergraduate applications is February 18, 2009 at 4:00 pm.  Graduate students should apply to participate through the Graduate Student Senate web site at http://www.uvm.edu/~gss/?Page=researchform.html.  All faculty and students should consult the conference web site for volunteer opportunities, and other relevant information. Additional details will be added as they become available.

Thank you for joining us in support of this special opportunity at the University of Vermont. Contact [log in to unmask] with any questions or concerns.
