A few more tips, first some that have more general applicability to touring:

- Be conservative on your heel elevator use.  In other words, tour without 
your heel elevator (or use the lower position instead of the higher) unless 
you’re slipping backwards and/or putting very noticeable strain on your 
calves.  Being conservative with your heel elevator use will enhance your 
ability to . . . 

- Lengthen your stride.  Try to max out your stride length at all times (i.e., up 
to the pointing of slipping or your flexibility).  If you want to go faster, then 
pick up the tempo, but even if you feel like you don’t have the extra energy to 
go faster, then still max out your stride (as the efficiency savings will preserve 
your energy).

Now for the more race-specific tips:

- On the ungroomed lower section of Antelope, don’t try to go fast.  Instead, 
focus on taking an efficient route through the moguls and avoiding any slips.  
In the easier sections, max out your stride lengths.  In the more difficult 
sections, think about what line is most moderate and least moguled.

- Once you hit the groomed section, hammer.

- On the Long Trail, when it’s flat, hammer.  But at the short, steep, awkward 
sections, focus on being efficient and exerting the least energy possible to get 
through – don’t worry about being fast.

- SBN descent, ski quickly, but below your max, so as to keep your muscles 
from getting fried.

- Ascent up from Slide Brook area, hammer.

- SBS descent, ski as fast as possible, but be careful of the public, and also 
be careful not to be miss any turns.

And finally:
- Remove your power strap or booster strap for the race.  Yes, the weight 
savings and transition time savings are small, but the extra control from the 
strap won’t do you any good on a race like this that has such easy descents, 
and removal/reinstallation is just a few minutes.  (Be sure to use threadlock 
though if it has any type of screw rivet.)
