*About the Council on the Future of Vermont*
The Council on the Future of Vermont (CFV) is a two-year initiative
designed by the Vermont Council on Rural Development (VCRD) to learn
from the people of Vermont about their priorities, their concerns, and
the points of vision they share. From October of 2007 to August of 2008,
the CFV sent listening teams throughout the state who sat in churches,
meeting halls, businesses, schools, factories, and VFW halls, listening
to thousands of Vermonters, hearing about their challenges today and
their hopes for the future. An additional 1500 Vermonters were polled—by
telephone or online—about their core values and the goals for the State.
VCRD also commissioned “Vermont in Transition,” an unprecedented
statistical compilation of trend lines in areas ranging from Agriculture
and Energy, to Culture and Social Services. The community discussions,
interviews, polling, and research make this project one of the most
intensive evaluations of public perspectives on the future and its
imperatives that has ever taken place in Vermont. Visit the website at
www.futureofvermont.org <http://www.futureofvermont.org/>.
