Thanks for reply, Kevin.  I have always hated the word "tech".  Pardon me for referring to you incorrectly.  "Tech" is not the correct professional term for what I the other registered sonographic professional do.  Sonographer is the correct professional term for those that have earned ARDMS credentials.  Perhaps the "techs" you are referring to are not registered.  Regardless, to quote a very well-known sonographic professional, Terry DuBose:  "words have meaning, people think in words, and what they think becomes their reality."  Sonographer, please!

Dear Deb, 

I prefer to be called by the proper name as well. I am a Physician Assistant, not a Physician's Assistant. This is my official title recognized in legislation referring to my profession, my National Certifying Board, the State of Texas, Federal Government, and CMS. Not only do I prefer to be called by Physician Assistant, but it is my legal title. All the vascular sonographers I know call themselves "techs" and don't feel the least bit slighted.
