ECO DRIVING WORKSHOP. Presented by UVM Transportation Research
Center, Vermont Clean Cities Coalition and Vermont Technical College.
Workshop participants will learn dozens of methods for cutting back on
their fuel consumption, thereby reducing their carbon footprint, and
saving money at the same time. Small changes in driving habits (such
as avoiding "jackrabbit" starts and stops, keeping tires properly
inflated, and removing excess weight from a vehicle) can greatly
decrease the amount of fuel used. Participants will: experience an
interactive lesson and practice eco driving techniques; road test and
measure the emissions of their own vehicle with a 5-gas analyzer; get
a check-up for their vehicle (alignment, on-board diagnostics, tire
pressure, and more; create an action plan for reducing fuel
consumption; view an array of plug-in-hybrid-electric vehicles,
hybrids, and more; receive their own tire pressure gauge to jump-start
their new eco driving habits. Vermont Technical College, Randolph, Vt.
8 a.m. to noon. A second workshop will take place on May 30, from 8
a.m. to noon, at Castleton State College. $39.95. Information,
registration: [log in to unmask], 656-9864.
