According to the IEBlog [1], Microsoft will be releasing Internet Explorer 8 to the Windows Server Update Service on August 29. If you have a computer that is part of Campus Active Directory Services, and you haven’t already installed IE8, it will be installed on your computer as part of the automatic update process.

IE8 has been installed via Automatic Updates for system not joined to the Campus domain since March. Campus Domain users can also install IE8 via direct download [2], or by manually running updates against Microsoft Update [3].

The IEBlog offers a thorough description of the user experience during the update [4].
