Good morning Ann,

After the caucus is completed, in order to complete the organization process the town party chair and secretary must complete certificate of organization forms and mail the completed forms along with a copy of the public notice for the caucus to the Office of the Secretary of State and to the state and county committees of the party. Our office retains the forms and public notice for 2 years until the next reorganization.

Best, Kathy

Hi Kathy, is the two year retention on caucus notices just for the Party? Doesn't that kind of defeat the public access?

Hi Carol,

Please post them as a kindness to your political party organizers. You are not required to do anything with them. We sent out a bulletin to the parties in July reminding them of all the steps they need to take to organize every odd numbered year. We also sent a copy of the memo to all town clerks just so you would know what had been sent. Many party organizers will call the Town clerk to ask questions so we provide the background information to clerks.

Best, Kathy

As a relatively new City Clerk, please let me know what I'm supposed to do with the notices of political party caucuses that I'm starting to receive. I assume I can post them, but am I supposed to do something else with them?

Thanks.
