We use both Elmo’s and Avermedia document camera’s at Newport City School. We switched to the Avermedia after having issues with receiving three defective Elmo’s in a row. Both have worked well at our school.

Not sure which doc cams you are looking at, but I've found Kris Woodington at gov connection gave me a quote for the new Elmo for quite a bit less than I got from anyone else for that model.

Can someone please explain the advantage of having a SMART document camera to go with a SMARTBoard vs. having an ELMO? If these are not to always be used together (i.e. the camera is on a separate cart to be used around the building by others, the SMART Board is in only one room), is it really worth the additional $200?

This is also in a school where none of the teachers have ever used either before, so the learning curve with the SMARTBoard will be steep. And, the extra $ may be the difference between having the SMART camera and having additional equipment.

Thanks for information.
